Expanded Learning Program
Alta Public Schools’ Expanded Learning Program provides high-quality, completely free before- and after-school programming for all TK–8 students enrolled in Alta Public Schools.

Enrichment Activities
Students participate in a wide variety of engaging activities, including:

Folklórico and dance

Karate and athletics

Recreation and the arts

Hands-on science

Cooking classes

Rock climbing, gymnastics, and swimming lessons

On- and off-campus enrichment events
All activities are grounded in Alta Public Schools’ International Baccalaureate (IB) philosophy and Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) framework.
Program Leadership
Programs are led by college student youth leaders pursuing careers in education, social services, health care, and criminal justice. Leadership pathways are also available for younger grades through programs such as the California Cadet Corps, Cub Scouts, and Girl Scouts.
Intersession Program
During school breaks, the Intersession Program offers up to 35 additional days of learning, providing families with a full 9-hour day of support:

Morning academics taught by certificated teachers

Afternoon recreation and enrichment activities
Program Schedule
Before School:
Monday–Friday | 6:30–8:00 a.m.
After School:
Monday–Friday | School dismissal until 6:00 p.m.
Funding
The Expanded Learning Program is funded through ELO-P, ASES, and 21st Century Community Learning Centers (21st CCLC).
Enrollment Information
The program is open to all students attending Alta Public Schools. Space is limited, and grade levels fill quickly, so families are encouraged to register early. To enroll or learn more, please contact your school’s main office.
